Our Hiring Standards
At LePort, we understand that excellent, motivated teachers are essential to delivering our unique program each and every day. We hire and develop Passionate Professionals to deliver the excellent education our parents have come to expect from LePort.
We look for experienced Toddler, Primary, and Lower Elementary Montessori teachers (children age 18 months through grade three) who have completed intensive training programs offered internationally by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), which we believe to be the most rigorous and valuable Montessori training available today. We also expect all of our Montessori teachers to have completed a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Ideal candidates will have two years of experience working with the relevant age group. For toddler teachers (children age 18 months through 3 years), we do occasionally accept other forms of Montessori training or experience, provided the candidate has obtained a deep understanding of the toddler age group.
For our Upper Elementary and Junior High/Middle School program (grades four through eight), we look for two things. First, we select teachers with deep subject matter expertise—such as a bachelor’s or an advanced degree in the subject(s) they intend to teach—and genuine passion for their subjects. Second, we look for teachers who have demonstrated a love of working with children, and who are great individuals themselves. That is, honest, high-minded adults who are eager to learn, and who can model upstanding character coupled with a passion for life. We do not require a teaching credential: if you fit our profile, and are eager to teach, we’d like to hear from you.
Communication skills are important. No matter what age you teach, we think it’s critical for teachers to be able to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both orally and in writing.
Candidates for administrative and head office positions are as valuable to our success as an organization as are our teachers. We look for intelligent, independent, creative, energetic people who value education and share our mission. Our employees tend to be people who view their professional lives as a continual process of growth, who eat up constructive criticism with a spoon, and who are always looking for a new challenge.
We invite you to explore our web site—especially the Why LePort section to see if you could imagine yourself as a teacher or other member of our team.
