Geography Test
Grade 7

This is a sample from a 7th grade student, AY 2010-2011, in which the student was given one class period (50 minutes) to complete it. This test evaluates “Basic World Geography” facts, which are introduced in 4th grade (the entry-level to our UEJH) and then briefly reviewed at the beginning of every school year thereafter.

This review lesson is given in PowerPoint and lecture-discussion format, featuring maps and photographs of key places around the globe, and discussion of essential cultural and demographic facts. Mapwork includes both physical maps (features such as the basic rivers, deserts, and mountain ranges) and political maps (identifying major countries).

In preparation for the test, students fill out a test study guide in class, complete several sets of practice maps, create flashcards for cultural and demographic facts, and review in partners.
