Geology Test
Grade 6
This is a sample from a student in 6th grade. This test was a cumulative test over the entire unit on rocks and how they form, from lessons spanning late March through May. Lessons were given in lecture format, after which students observed and handled specimens, engaged in hands-on modeling (or processes), guided note-taking, and question-and-answer sessions. Students were given a study guide one week, prior to the date of the test, but this study guide merely outlined possible topics. For the “Roc Identification” section of this test, students were shown slides, in color, featuring multiple samples of each rock. Topics in this unit were: Rocks from Magma (volcanoes and volcanic rock, plutons and plutonic rocks), The Formation of Sediments and Sedimentary Rocks (sediments and bedrock, processes of weathering and erosion, deposition and sedimentary rocks).
