LePort Lomita offers an exceptional Montessori education and has teachers and staff who truly care about the children.

Today, I attended Watch Me Work Wednesday, an opportunity at LePort to observe your child in the classroom for 45 minutes. This is my third Watch Me Work Wednesday, and I feel moved to add to my previous review.

Due to the departure of two of the Primary teachers last Fall 2018, Primary 1 and Primary 2 were combined. Today, there is one class, led by Ms. Michelle with her assistants, Ms. Rosalba, Ms. Lydia, and Ms. Alejandra.

Like other parents, I was concerned about the merger of Primary 1 and Primary 2 into one class. It meant that my 5-year-old and 3-year-old would be in the same class. While a few families left, we stayed.

Why? Because LePort Montessori Lomita is a true Montessori school. It is child-centered and child-led. Despite the merger, it does not change the fact that LePort Lomita offers an exceptional Montessori education and has teachers and staff who truly care about the children.

And today's Watch Me Work Wednesday reaffirmed this. I felt so proud as a parent - proud of Ms. Michelle and the work she has done. She and Ms. Rosalba, Ms. Lydia, and Ms. Alejandra seamlessly navigated the classroom, teaching lessons and helping children.

And, I felt so proud of the students. I saw young children (3- to 5-year-olds) focused on lessons, working individually or with others. They worked on map puzzles and created small books of stenciled shapes. They buttoned and laced and screwed in small bolts into wood. They trimmed and watered plants. They wrote letters and sentences and read books. They wrote numbers and completed addition booklets. They unrolled rugs and stacked large blocks. They did yoga. They prepared their snacks and put their dishes away.

All these things and more were done by 3- to 5-year-olds. Despite their young age, they are responsible, well-behaved, and focused. They respect each other and clean up after themselves. There was no yelling or shouting by the adults or children. The classroom was abuzz with activity and chatter. Everyone was excited to learn.

I am proud that my children go to LePort Montessori Lomita. Their love for learning, character, and good habits are a testament to the Montessori education they have received. Thank you, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Rosalba, and Ms. Lydia, for your kindness and hard work. Everything you do shows in the children's words, actions, and manners.

I always felt my son was well taken care of and safe each day I dropped him off.

We started looking into different infant care locations when I was six months pregnant. We had an older child attending LePort's primary class at the time, however we didn't think a Montessori program for our infant was necessary. It was only after touring several places did I start to see what separates LePort's Infant program apart from the others. It was a tough financial decision but after reviewing all our options, we knew LePort was the best choice for our family.

LePort's infant room is bright, clean, and the outdoor space provides plenty of shade. The classroom layout gives children the freedom to move around and explore throughout the day. Even as second-time parents, we revisited our parenting approach and opened ourselves to learning the Montessori method for infants. To help our son transition between school and home, we recreated LePort's classroom environment with similar sensory toys, cups, plates, and utensils. We even got rid of our mobile swing. Aside from the classroom layout, what impressed me the most during our tour was how abundant the use of language was in the classroom. The staff are constantly speaking, singing, or reading to the children. Most importantly, I always felt my son was well taken care of and safe each day I dropped him off.

LePort's infant classroom is unlike any other place. My son started when he was only three-months-old and stayed until he was seventeen months. Ms. Anisa and the rest of the staff are passionate with what they do which translates into a warm and loving environment for children to thrive in. I suggest anyone looking for infant care to schedule a visit with LePort to see first-hand how truly independent babies can be. It's amazing how much they are capable of when given the proper guidance, support, and love.

If you're a parent looking for a Montessori that embodies Maria Montessori's philosophy and follows the Montessori method, this is it.

If you're a parent looking for a Montessori that embodies Maria Montessori's philosophy and follows the Montessori method, this is it.

As a parent, I have visited various Montessori schools and have learned to distinguish between authentic Montessori schools and those that are Montessori in name only.

My two children attend LePort Lomita and have flourished. We owe it to the incredible teachers they have had: Ms. Lucy (Toddler), Ms. Michelle (Primary), and Ms. Maria (Primary). They, along with the other Head Teachers, have Montessori credentials and a genuine love and respect for their students. And the assistant teachers and staff are equally wonderful, in particular, Ms. Ashley and Ms. Jillian.

Under Ms. Maria, my 5-year-old daughter sings songs in Russian; writes sentences in print and cursive; practices addition, subtraction, and the decimal system; and loves to read and create her own little books. One of the projects she's most proud of is creating her own world map.

Under Ms. Lucy and Ms. Michelle, my 2-year-old son has explored his love of puzzles and blocks. He sings songs; practices buttoning and sewing; paints; and enjoys other sensorial and practical activities.

Most importantly, all these teachers--Ms. Maria, Ms. Ashley, Ms. Michelle, and Ms. Lucy--have helped my children develop their confidence and social skills. My children love to learn as well as share and help their peers.

If you're a parent reading this, and are considering a Montessori education for your children, please visit LePort Lomita and see for yourself a Montessori school in action.

He is very independent and curious, thanks to the Montessori education.

By now, our son has been going to LePort for 2.5 years. He started with Ms. Anisa and Ms. Annette in the Nido, moved to Ms. Juli in Toddler and now is with Ms. Michelle in Primary. All the teachers and staff have been amazing. We can't be happier about the decision we made 3 years ago to send him here. This school is a second home for him.

He is very independent and curious, thanks to the Montessori education. They teach respect and freedom. No one tells them what they have to do. They pick the material that interests them and work on it for as long as they want. Common housework is often integrated into their play, such as cutting veggies/fruits, washing tables, folding clothes, setting the tables for lunch, etc. It makes chores fun and those are his favorite activities. He often asks to help us at home too. Another big plus is the huge outdoor play areas they have. He gets to ride the bikes around, go sliding, try the swings or just play with the sand. During pick up, we sometimes see the teachers playing games with them. All the kids were running around and laughing.

We are very happy with the school and highly recommend it!

LePort is a place where a gentle introduction to language, math, and science concepts is introduced in such a way that your child remains engaged and absorbs information without being forced.

My 5-year-old has been going to LePort for 4 years! Classrooms are beautiful and serene and the teachers have all been awesome. I am a self-admitted Tiger Mom so there are times when I demand a bit too much out of the education my child is receiving. The whole point of Montessori is to give your child a lifelong love of learning. This is not a place where your child must memorize or be forced to learn. You can go to Kumon for that! LePort is a place where a gentle introduction to language, math, and science concepts is introduced in such a way that your child remains engaged and absorbs information without being forced. LePort is very costly but unfortunately there isn't another school in the area that comes close (I've checked all of them!). Miss Claudia is a gem of a teacher, she was born to be a teacher and to work with kids. I'm heartbroken that this is my daughter's last year with her. My 3-year-old is in her class as well now but was also with Ms. Juli last year in Toddler--another gem of a teacher.

Ms. Juli is our son's current teacher and I can't say enough great things about her. We have seen his language skills grow by leaps and bounds, his motor skills are developing quickly, and he is proud and confident of himself. We started with Ms. Anisa in the infant room and I have not for a moment had any concern that I was leaving my son in the best care possible. There is something quite comforting about feeling that your child is growing up with skills necessary for his future while surrounded by consistency and values that mirror ours. Thank you LePort!!!

My 3.5- and 2-year-old kids have been attending this school for over a year now. Absolutely love the teachers. They are experts in Montessori ways, professional and kind. Unlike other schools, they follow the Montessori method to the core which makes kids independent and confident. My experience with Ms. Anisa from the infant room, Ms Lucy from Toddler and Ms Maria from Primary has been amazing. Rest of the staff is no less. They all work really hard to provide the best care possible!

I read some other reviews where parents were concerned that their child was not disciplined enough to follow the Montessori method, but it's not true. Teachers and staff here help the child to be calm in the most loving way. Whenever I pick up my kids they are always having a blast and being silly.

My 14-month-old daughter has been attending LePort since she was 4 months of age. The dedicated teachers have taught her to drink from an open cup, use sign language, and self-feed all before she turned 1. It is wonderful to see the social development in all the infants as they interact in the open environment setting as well as outdoors on the grass area. The greatest thing to see, as a parent, is that my daughter enjoys going to school and is excited every morning to walk herself into the classroom! My husband and I are grateful to have found LePort and have been very pleased with the care provided.

My youngest son has been in the Infant program since he was 4 months of age. He's almost 13 months now and we've been so very pleased with the infant environment. The teachers are warm and caring. The room is large, clean, bright, safe. There are great developmental materials that have helped him develop fine and gross motor skills. The room may seem sparse to the first-timer, but they rotate the toys and bring materials out according to his needs and interest. There isn't a huge sensory overload of noise/color that one sees in the typical infant daycares. They don't have any swings/saucers that restrict movement; the infants are allowed to roam as they develop the ability. The mixed age room is a plus. I've seen my son look up to the slightly older children and imitate and learn. The infants also have their own separate outdoor play area, which faces the older kids' play area. It's sweet to see the babies watching the older kids. I have two older kids at LePort as well, and they love seeing each other during recess. The infant room also has windows facing a backyard where the older kids take soccer lessons and the babies all love watching the soccer lessons. My son has been trying to kick a ball since he first learned to stand.

I've become a huge fan of the Montessori approach. My son learned to drink from an open cup by 9 months, and he does so without help. No sippies! He sits independently. He self feeds. At home, he walks around carrying a stool and will place it and sit down wherever he wants. He is advanced for his age in language and expression according to his pediatrician and he loves books because the teachers read to the babies at school regularly.

Overall, it's been a great experience for us. He is my third kid, and I feel very lucky that with this baby, we were able to put him in such a high quality infant center. The only thing that could make it better, would be a Spanish or Mandarin immersion Montessori infant center. But that's asking for a lot, and it just doesn't exist here!

LePort is not a regular daycare. It is a school where our children start receiving an education, preparing them for advancement to the next level. They have materials in each class designed to stimulate the kids' brains based on their age group. My daughter started at one and I noticed a huge difference within a short period of time, thanks to her educator Ms. Annette and the assistant teachers. She was able to learn to feed herself and not long after, she was drinking out of her own cup by herself. We had been trying to teach her before we sent her to LePort but was struggling with it. She even communicated with us using sign language!! After only a few months, she is already acting like a little adult!! We feel so lucky to have found LePort!

Thank you LePort Montessori!! I am so thrilled and grateful to have found this school. I was searching for a school that was a good fit for my 3 ½-year-old son who is very high energy and has had some behavior issues.

Originally I was not very interested in the Montessori method since it seemed too cold and structured. I initially was looking for more of a play based school. I had sent him to 5 different schools since he was 2 ½-years-old prior to LePort, searching for the perfect fit. I was constantly disappointed by every school on some level or another. I was beginning to think that maybe I was too particular or that this was just the way it was. Until LePort Montessori! With our previous bad experiences at the other schools and some horrible teachers along the way...I NEVER imagined I would say that I LOVE a school or a teacher. But I LOVE LePort!

We were one of the families who stayed at the campus after LePort took it over [in 2013]. The classrooms have been transformed and are now clean, organized, and inviting. My son has gone from the infant room to the toddler room and is now in the primary room. All of his teachers and assistant teachers have been fantastic. My daughter, who is three-months-old, just started in the infant room. Although it is difficult to leave her at such a young age the transition is going well. I am very happy with LePort and the high level of care my children are receiving. My son enjoys going to school everyday and often doesn't want to go home when I pick him up!

Our son started at LePort at 17 months. He has adjusted very well and is now excited to go to school. I am impressed by Miss Lucy's knowledge of child development and the way she promotes the children's independence. When I first met her, she gave me some very good advice that I try to follow to this day. She told me to focus on telling my son what I wanted him to do and what I expected him to do vs. telling him what not to do and what he couldn't do. Ms. Francesca is fantastic and my son loves her! She is very patient and caring. I am very comfortable leaving my son here all day with the wonderful staff.

Our son started at LePort at 3 months--he is now 22-months-old. The entire staff has been wonderful. Every morning my wife drops our son off at the daycare, and there is a tad bit of disappointment because he is excited to be there and tells my wife to go "bye bye".

Our son has made many friends, and learned many things while at school. He now sets his own plate, wipes his hands, and picks up his dishes...all learned while at LePort. In the evening when we are leaving, all the teachers take time to say goodbye as we leave.

The staff also makes sure to keep us apprised of any situations, from simple things such as bumping his head (as little boys will do) to if he develops a fever. The staff is quick to notify us, and follow up in writing.

We appreciate all they do.

My daughter has been attending this school for almost a year now. She started at Infant and transitioned to Toddler shortly after. At Nido, Ms. Fernando took amazing care of her. My daughter became very fond of her and adapted well to the school environment. Ms. Fernando is so patient, sweet and grandmotherly. I have a lot of gratitude in my heart for her for taking such good care of my daughter.

In Toddler class, the Head Teacher, Miss Lucy, is amazing. She is so even-tempered and patient with all the kids. I have observed how calmly she enforces rules and all the children follow them. She is a very dedicated teacher and keeps us parents in the loop always. She is very focused when she's giving lessons to the kids, be it dishwashing or wood polishing or just singing songs. My daughter is very attached to her and gives her a hug every morning.

The assistant teachers, Ms. Annette and Ms Francesca, are great in their own ways. Ms. Annette is very creative and does many cute art activities with the kids. Ms. Francesa has an adorable personality and is very friendly with kids.

Ms. Ashley was also with toddlers for a short time and I thought she was very energetic and fun with the kids. Overall I am very happy with the school and the education my daughter is receiving. I do wish though that they had more after care activities for kids.

The teachers, staff, and administrators at LePort Montessori School in Lomita have had an amazing, positive influence on our daughter since she started attending in June of 2014.

The administrative staff is very organized and genuinely happy to help with any issue. They send weekly emails to keep families informed about school events or other news. Our daughter's teacher also sends emails specific to our daughter about her class interests and growth. We're able to see pictures of daily activities on the class Facebook page, and to see how happily our daughter interacts with the teachers and friends is priceless. With the administrative staff and teacher knowledge and involvement in our daughter's activities, we feel comfortable asking questions and getting clarification and suggestions. We also noticed that her frequent interaction with numerous adults on staff has contributed greatly to the way that our daughter thinks and speaks like an adult--and that is very rewarding to witness.

Most of all, our daughter loves going to school. Her Spanish vocabulary has increased dramatically since she has been in the Spanish immersion program for a year.

We have enjoyed watching our daughter's independence grow throughout the year and are confident that our decision to place her in LePort was, without question, the right choice.

Our son started attending LePort at 8 months where he started in the Nido infant room. We loved the teachers in the Nido led by Miss Anisa. Recently, our son transitioned to the toddler room when he turned 15 months. It took him a little time to transition but now he loves going to school thanks to his new teachers Miss Lucy and Miss Francesca. They are so wonderful, nurturing, and promote independence/optimum learning. He is learning to set his own table, eat and sleep in a group setting, socialize with peers, and choose work activities (e.g., painting, food prep, cleaning, puzzles, fine motor tasks, and reading). When I first met Miss Lucy, she gave me some great advice about how to promote more learning and independence. After speaking with her we now only change our son in the bathroom standing up. He knows to go to the bathroom and tries to help take off his clothes and diaper. He is able to wash his hands and even tries to help us cook in the kitchen. One of his favorite activities is to stand on a step stool at the counter and help make his breakfast. He puts on his little apron, sets up a mat, and can pour and mix items in a bowl. He is blossoming thanks to the wonderful teachers at LePort.

Our family highly recommends LePort. When you find out you are pregnant, take a tour and put your name on the waitlist...you won't regret it. You also will learn what not to get as a new parent. The environment set up there is ideal for raising your child. After seeing their environment for infants and toddlers, I would have done a lot of this differently from the beginning.

After weeks of touring several daycares/schools I was starting to give up hope, I just did not feel comfortable leaving my son at those other places. Thankfully I found LePort Montessori. I scheduled a tour and fell in love with the campus, and their teaching philosophy.

We signed up for the Parent and Child class when he was around 11 months. On his first day, he learned how to go up and down the stairs while holding onto the handrail. He then began attending LePort Montessori's infant class in November 2013. Ms. Lucy and Ms. Anissa were so caring and nurturing. During his time there, he learned how to sit at a table, drink from a cup, and to feed himself, all while meeting and interacting with kids his age.

Now he has transitioned onto the toddler class with Ms. Lucy, where he is learning to wash his hands, throw away his leftover food, put away his dirty dishes, hang his coat on a hanger, and just an endless list of new skills. He is very independent and takes direction well. I owe all that to this wonderful school and the staff, including the front office staff who are always so helpful. I would definitely recommend this school to everybody.

We just started sending our 2-year-old to LePort Montessori School. Having just moved from New York, it was really hard for us to find a school to start with. Just when we were looking for a good school, LePort had an open house where we could meet people from different schools around the area and that's where we learned more about the Montessori way of training.

This is the first ever school that our daughter has been to and we had many concerns about her adjusting to the environment. But she quickly got adjusted to the place. The staff is really friendly and the first thing that you notice about the place is the cleanliness. It is a very organized set-up with very experienced teachers. There is a huge change in our daughter's behavior since she started school. She has become more independent and has started to show more interest in children her age.

On the whole, if you are looking for a place where your child will get individual attention and daily feedback from the teachers in a Montessori set up, LePort Montessori school is the right place and I would highly recommend this place.
