LePort Montessori School Lomita / South Bay
An authentic, nurturing Montessori school, offering infant & toddler daycare, preschool/kindergarten, and a Spanish immersion option
At LePort Montessori in Lomita, children thrive in an authentic, nurturing Montessori environment, and have the option of becoming bilingual in our Spanish-immersion preschool/kindergarten classroom. We welcome your entire family—from babies through preschoolers and kindergarten students. At our school, you’ll find a home away from home, a community of educators and fellow parents who believe in the goodness of the child, and the power of an individualized, respectful education. Our mission at LePort Montessori is to help children gain what we call Knowledge for Life: the essential knowledge, thinking skills and strength of character needed to flourish as joyous children today, and as successful adults tomorrow.
Our daycare and preschool is conveniently located on PCH, just off Crenshaw, and easy to reach from the South Bay communities of Torrance, Redondo Beach, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula. In 2013, we totally renovated an old church building, creating bright, spacious Montessori classrooms for infant, toddlers, and preschool/kindergarten. Each light-filled classroom has direct access to one of our three separate play areas, and each has built-in, child-sized toilets and sinks. Children enjoy plenty of outside, active time on our three playgrounds, which offer a wide variety of activities, from grassy areas and gardens, to natural play elements like rope climbers and logs, to sand boxes and traditional play equipment.
Our Head of School, Marcia Clark, and her team look forward to showing you around your child’s future school, and helping you discover the life-changing value of a great Montessori education. As Montessori is not a trademarked term, Montessori schools vary widely in quality: some daycares and preschools use the name for marketing, without delivering on the promise of a great education. Mrs. Clark draws upon nearly three decades of experience leading Montessori programs in Santa Monica and the South Bay, and after seeing her own children grow up in Montessori (and now watching her first grandchild enjoy Montessori), she now looks forward to meeting with you and to helping you see if a high-quality Montessori education is right for your child and family.
