LePort Montessori School Carlsbad Village

An authentic, nurturing Montessori school, offering preschool/kindergarten and elementary school, in a small school setting

Our intimate, two-room school is housed on the charming estate of a former Carlsbad mayor, complete with a quaint courtyard, a lush garden, and large grassy field enclosed by a beautiful mosaic covered wall.

In this idyllic setting, students experience an authentic Montessori education where learning consists of exploring and discovering a rich, carefully sequenced curriculum, brought to life with a wide range of hands-on Montessori materials. Our mixed-age preschool and elementary classrooms allow children to develop a spirit of cooperation and caring within our learning community. Our curriculum is designed to allow each child to move ahead at his own, unique pace, accelerating quickly in some subjects while practicing longer in others. With this approach, a typical student ultimately exceeds the public school common core standards.

The school leadership team looks forward to meeting you and showing you around your child’s potential future school. We welcome family visiting while school is in session, so you can see the quality education children receive under the guidance of our two Montessori-certified lead teachers, and their capable assistants.

Discover the benefits of Montessori Elementary

With Montessori Elementary at LePort, children can continue in Montessori school from 1st – 6th grade. Watch this video and learn how different elementary school can and should be! Hear what parents say, and see what children experience:

  • Mixed-age classrooms—where working together in small groups and learning from and with each other is encouraged
  • Multi-sensory, sequenced, hands-on materials that allow children to learn joyfully—as against days spending much time on worksheets and textbooks
  • Individualized learning plans for each elementary-aged child, so children can proceed at an accelerated pace in their areas of strengths, and receive additional support in other areas
  • Practice time built into the school day, so you can enjoy family time at home (Instead of being a homework task master)
  • A welcoming, comfortable environment where children can move throughout the day, working at group or individual tables, on work rugs or on sofas, instead of sitting still at desks
  • Purposeful development of self-management skills—organization, problem solving, and mastering social conflicts
