LePort Montessori School Solana Beach
An authentic, nurturing Montessori school, offering infant and toddler daycare, preschool/kindergarten and elementary school, as well as a Spanish immersion program
LePort Montessori Solana Beach welcomes your entire family: with programs from infants (as young as three months), through elementary school (6th grade), your children can thrive at our school for many years. We would like to help your child gain what we call Knowledge for Life: the essential knowledge, thinking skills and strength of character needed to flourish as joyous children today, and as successful adults tomorrow. Many families choose our school, because we are known for being a great preschool—and stay through the elementary years, because they have discovered that the individualized, joyful learning experiences in Montessori are worth investing in, and that the support of a community of like-minded families and passionate educators is invaluable in raising a happy, healthy child.
LePort Montessori Solana Beach is conveniently located just off the 5, a few blocks south of Loma Santa Fe Drive, right south of Loma Santa Fe Plaza. Our school building is purpose-built for the authentic Montessori education we offer; in fact, Dr. Maria Montessori’s son, Mario Montessori, acted as a consultant in the design of our school! Our preschool/kindergarten classrooms extend out from a central core, and have direct access to outdoor classroom extensions, where children can snack, receive lessons, work, and garden throughout the day, taking advantage of our nice San Diego climate. Beyond the classrooms, students enjoy a variety of outside spaces, from playgrounds tailored to each age group, to gardening areas. Elementary students also take advantage of our broader neighborhood: they walk to nearby parks, and use public transportation for Going Out excursions to many exciting destinations in our neighborhood, such as Balboa Park, and as far as downtown San Diego. Recently, the Upper Elementary group (4th-6th grade) participated in Nature’s Classroom: a 4-day camping excursion in the mountains of San Bernardino.
Ms. Shawn Edwards, Head of School, and Ms. Angela Kabel, Director of Admissions and Parent Experience, as well as their team, look forward to showing you around your child’s future school, and helping you discover the life-changing value of a great Montessori education. As Montessori is not a trademarked term, Montessori schools vary widely in quality: some daycares and preschools use the name for marketing, without delivering on the promise of a great education. Both Ms. Edwards and Ms. Kabel hold Montessori certificates from the Association Montessori Internationale, AMI (which offers consistently high-quality training), as do all of the Head Teachers at our school. The combination of well-trained, experienced teachers, an investment in a full range of Montessori materials for each classroom, and a commitment to mixed-age classroom communities and extended, uninterrupted work periods, set our school apart.
